A few days ago, our beloved friend Stephen informed us of some very sad news: on the February 1st, when anchored in some islands of the Gulf of Panamá, at 1am in the night a sudden rise of winds and sea knocked his trimaran Nice Tri on a corral reef. Steven made everything he could to get out of here but his valiant efforts were vain as the vessel was totally stranded and the swell was rising. Then the boat had been pushed again the rocks and had been totally demolished by the swell.

Steven lost everything. Fortunately he saved his beautiful cat Sweetie and 2 bags of item. No more…

As sailors we are aware of how terrifying can be that situation: all of a sudden we lose our boat, our house, lots of valuable items, our memories. It’s a part of our life that goes.

Stephen is one of the most beautiful human being I’ve ever met. So funny, cool, helpful, smart, and kind. He is my sailor best feathered friend, I’ve met him in La Paz, Baja California, we spent the hurricane season together in Huatulco, Christmas in Salvador and rainy season in Costa Rica just before he headed to Panamá to put his boat in dry storage there and do a refit.

Now I believe it’s time to give back some love he had given during his voyage. I would like to call the solidarity of all his friends, family and sailor community to help him to pursue his life and get back on his feet as quickly as possible.
