Fundraising for Belarus Orphanage
My name is Rosie Devoy Pullin. In July 2017, I will be travelling to Gorodische Orphanage in Belarus to spend two weeks with the special needs children and young adults who live there. Many of these children are living the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster which happened 31 years ago.
In November last year, I watched a documentary called 'Finding Banni' on RTE one. It featured the story of a little Belarusian boy with special needs. It broke my heart, made me furious and then seriously re-evaluate my life. I contacted the Burren Chernobyl Project, the voluntary Irish charity involved in Banni's Orphanage (Gorodische), to see how I could be useful.
I am learning Russian as fast as I can and embark on my first trip to Belarus with BCP in about 6 weeks. I am not looking for money to pay for the trip. I would like to raise some money to be spent directly on the children and young adults. Every cent raised will go straight to their specific needs at that time; whether it is nappies or medicine, bubbles or marshmallows, the cause is more than worthy. If you are in the position to contribute anything I would really appreciate it. Every little bit counts!
Thank you for your support,
Rosie
