Suicides are incredibly difficult and complex. We who are left behind must somehow pick up the pieces, make sense of it all, deeply reflect on how the system failed, on what role we played. On September 16, 2024, Harlow Mingus Joy, son of Ren Niles, took his own life, at only 16 years old.

Harlow was a dazzling human, known for his empathy, creativity, and style. He was a philosopher and questioner, an old soul who was wise beyond his years, he had friends of all ages and is deeply missed by all the communities he touched.

Ren, his mother needs the village to rally around her as she takes the time to grieve. Ren has joined the "club that no one wants to be a part of," parents who have lost a child. The funds raised will go toward living expenses for Ren as she navigates this devastating period.
