Several weeks ago our Local 2598 lost one of our own, Derek Shifflett. His wife lost her husband, three beautiful girls lost their father, his loving parents lost a son, and his sister lost a brother. The community lost a dedicated public servant, and so much was lost that day.

We know we cannot begin to replace what was lost on October 12, 2022. What we can do is honor the man who left such a large hole in so many hearts. A grieving family can be reminded of the support that comes from Derek’s impact on all of us.

We ask that those that are able please assist with raising funds to help offset the financial uncertainty that comes with this tragic event. Our collective generosity may put food on a table, fuel in a car, a child in a college classroom, or a family on a vacation.

Most importantly, we can help put a smile on a face.
