Fundraiser for the Asempaneye community in Ghana
Donation protected
The Asempaneye community needs your help! In the Asempaneye village in rural Ghana, the locals need access to school, medical, and basic living supplies. I volunteered at the local school for three months earlier this year and will be going back in August 2023. I will pay all my travel expenses myself. I assure you that 100% of any money you generously donate will go directly to medical and educational supplies for children in need, delivered personally by me on your behalf.
Hi everyone, my name is Nellie, I'm 18 years old, and I'm planning to go volunteering in Ghana in August 2023. I volunteered in Ghana for 3.5 months earlier this year, from February to May. I spent my time volunteering in a small village called Asempaneye which is located in rural Ghana, about 2 hours from the capital. While I was there I did both childcare, which involves ensuring that the schoolchildren were fed breakfast and lunch every day, and teaching at the local school. One of the difficulties teaching there was that the school has very limited access to school supplies and resources. Most days, kids would show up to school without a notebook or without a writing utensil, making it very difficult to teach them effectively. The school doesn't even have electricity or running water.
When I return to Ghana in August, I will only be staying there for 3 weeks since that is all that my schedule allows, but I will be teaching at the Asempaneye school during these weeks. I was hoping to donate some basic supplies and resources to the school and the community to, hopefully, improve the quality of education. However, being a recent high-school graduate who is about to start university, I, unfortunately, don't have the funds to be able to help this community out of my own pocket. So I am setting up this GoFundMe in case anyone else would like to help me fund this.
I want to assure you that any money I raise will be spent on pens, pencils, whiteboard markers, erasers, notebooks, mathematical tools, clothes for the local children, medical supplies, and any other potential resources or supplies that I find out they need once I get there. These supplies will all be purchased and personally delivered to the school and/or the families in the community by me.
To anyone who decides to donate and help me fund this initiative: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. The Asempaneye community is truly the most welcoming and wonderful community of people I've ever met and they truly deserve and appreciate your support. Any donation, however big or small, will make a difference in the lives of these amazing people.
