Fundraiser for Shymala and Family

Hi everyone,
With my birthday coming up this month, I would like to do something a little different because of the circumstances we are in. The coronavirus has affected the world population in many forms, yet sometimes we forget to acknowledge the individual stories and families that have been drastically impacted. I knew I wanted to spend my birthday doing anything possible to help alleviate the changes many are currently experiencing. My mind immediately went to a family I know that lives in my father’s hometown.
Their father passed away, and the two girls live with their mother who usually works in different households doing smaller jobs. However, with the new health concerns, she has been left unemployed. The girls are 15 and 17- which is how old I am turning this month. Knowing that I am almost the same age as both of them made me feel connected to their story, and urged me to support them. Even without a safe place to live or their own home, both of them continue to work and study diligently to continue their education. These girls are extremely strong and brave for persisting despite their setbacks, and they are a huge inspiration to me.
Now, the community is pitching in to help build a house for the family, and with your help, I can donate too. I hope to raise $1,500 total, which will all be used for constructing their home. Even if each person can provide $10, together we can help support this family.
