At Ashgate Croft School, we are fundraising to create a School Reflection Garden—a peaceful space where our pupils and staff can remember and reflect on the wonderful friends we have sadly lost over the years.

As a special needs school, we have had many pupils with complex health needs, and, heartbreakingly, some of them have passed away. Last year was particularly devastating, as we lost two incredible pupils over the summer. One of them was Lucy (pictured), who had been part of our Ashgate family since 2013. Lucy was loved by everyone, with an amazing sense of humour and a smile that could light up any room.

Losing a pupil is incredibly hard for our whole school community, and it can be especially confusing and difficult for our pupils to process. That’s why we want to convert part of our outdoor space into a School Reflection Garden—a quiet, comforting place where pupils can go to remember their friends, and staff can reflect on the special bonds they had with those we have lost.

We are raising money to help with the costs of creating this meaningful and lasting tribute, and we would be so grateful for any donations to help make this vision a reality.
