Fundraiser for Madison

On the 28th October 2021, my lovely 16 year old niece, Madison, was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma - a rare, aggressive blood cancer of the lymphatic system. A complete shock to Madison, her mum, Emma, dad, and brother Zach.

Prior to this, Madison was a happy, healthy teenage girl achieving fantastic GCSE results in the summer and going on to study at Barrow Sixth Form College. She also had a Saturday job at The Bosun’s Locker - a job she thoroughly enjoyed.

After suffering intense back pain for a number of months, along with other symptoms, Madison was seen by a specialist physiotherapist and within 36 hours had urgent blood tests, an MRI and was given the awful and unexpected news that she may have lymphoma.  

Following many more tests and a biopsy, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma was confirmed, and she was then referred to The Christie in Manchester for treatment. 

Since then, Madison has travelled many times to and from Manchester - sometimes on consecutive days for scans, consultations and now finally this week has started her first cycle of chemotherapy, with at least 6 months of treatment to come. 

Madison has a long road ahead of her but despite everything, she remains strong and determined to get through this. She has amazed us all with her bravery and no fuss attitude - she simply wants to be treated and carry on with her full, happy life. 

Madison even plans to donate her own hair to the Little Princess Trust before it is taken by her treatment. This shows how kind and thoughtful she is - even in the darkest of times, thinking of others and how she can help them. 

With many months of outpatient treatment to endure - the journeys to Manchester and back and finding accommodation will naturally take a financial toll on Madison’s family.
