100,000 Steps for Leon
Hi, my name’s David Reed, and I’m taking on a huge challenge — walking 100,000 steps (around 45–50 miles) from Alnwick Castle to the Stadium of Light in Sunderland in one go. This will take between 14 and 18 hours, and it’s going to be physically and mentally tough… but it’s nothing compared to the reason behind it.
I’m doing this to raise money for Leon’s daughter, who was just one year old when she lost her dad. Every penny raised will help give her the strongest possible start as she grows up and moves into adult life — something every child deserves.
I’ve also spoken with Leon’s sister, Emily, and a portion of the funds raised will be donated to a charity chosen by Leon’s family, so that this challenge can also help others who may be struggling.
Leon was genuinely one of the best people you could meet — the biggest smile in the room, the life of every party, and someone who brought light wherever he went. Tragically, we lost him far too soon when he died by suicide. This walk is about turning pain into purpose, remembering Leon for the amazing person he was, and doing something positive in his name.
This is going to be a serious challenge, but I believe together we can prove that when people come together, incredible things can happen. I’m also opening this up to anyone who wants to join for part of the walk, show support along the route, or help spread the word.
Fundraising Goal: £5,000
With the support of Leon’s friends, family, the local community, and social media, I truly believe we can smash this target.
If you can donate — no matter how small — or even just share this page, it would mean the world. Let’s come together to support Leon’s daughter and create something positive in his memory.
Thank you so much for your support
