What If Your Loved One Needed Care Beyond Your Ability to Provide?
What If ...
Did you ever wonder what you would do if a dear loved one needed the kind of help you just couldn’t manage anymore? I know many people come to that realization with their loved ones. Maybe they are ill and can no longer be taken care of at home, or without assistance. Perhaps there has been an injury and the recovery process and medical bills are piling up, and you have done all you can do. It’s possible that there are numerous scenarios of which I am unaware. I’d like to share with you one that is extremely close to my heart.
Our Story
This is our story, Bob and Lauri Cole, and our sweet loved one. This person in my husband’s and my life is a dearly loved family member. I don’t feel comfortable sharing the name or relationship because I want to maintain their integrity and privacy. But about three years ago, our loved one began showing acute signs of emotional and mental stress. It turns out our dear one is suffering from debilitating anxiety and depression disorders as well as confusing language and social communication disorders.
These disorders make it difficult, sometimes impossible, for them to cope with the ups and downs of life, which often seem overwhelming and full of fear. My immediate family has spent untold amounts of time, energy, care and money for the care of our dear one. This person continues to need more care: doctor’s visits, therapy appointments, life skills lessons, mental and emotional rehabilitation, and day to day check-ins; sometimes more than my family can provide. It has been about 3 years of constant support, both financial and emotional.
The cost of this kind of care is about $5000 per month beyond what Bob and I are able to manage. We have nearly exhausted our savings and have recently resorted to using credit cards to pay for our loved one’s care. So, Bob and I are now reaching out to our family, friends and community for prayers and financial support.
We believe that God is our provider. He may be wanting to work in and through you on behalf of my family. Your prayers are also wanted and needed. Prayer support is vital to this process. Please pray for the Cole family.
The future, at this time, is uncertain. It seems that, without further care and treatment, it is doubtful that our loved one could enjoy what most people would consider a normal life. However, we are hopeful that an additional year at this new level of care and support will enable our loved one to gain the physical, mental and emotional health needed to sustain a productive, independent life.
What Your Help Will Do
Your financial support will help pay for things like a mental healthcare management team overseeing the care, doctors, medications and facilities for our family member. It will also help with a high accountability group home, diagnostic testing, psychiatric and psychological care and living expenses for a year. Your contribution will also help dig our family out of medical treatment debt and reimburse some of the many bills we’ve paid.
What This Will Mean
This will mean you are helping lift a heavy weight of treatment expenses and debt off of our shoulders, and for our loved one, this will mean they will receive the level of care and support they need. Your help, of any amount, will be life giving to the Cole family. Please also share this link https://www.gofundme.com/f/fundraiser-for-dear-cole-family-member in your sphere of influence.
It is truly a humbling experience to ask for help, and we are extremely grateful for any support you as a community can provide.
