Fundraiser for Dasha in Ukraine

Hi, my name is Lyndsey Jefferson and I’m fundraising for my dear friend Dasha Levkovska (Zabolotna) and her family in Ukraine. Dasha was an exchange student at Franklin Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana from 2007-2008.

When Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Dasha and her husband Pasha had to flee their village and leave their home and everything behind.

 

Dasha and Pasha are seeking safety in western Ukraine, but Dasha’s mother stayed behind to look after their dog, two cats, and guinea pig. Her mom Liudmila remains steadfast about not leaving home, despite the danger and nearby shelling in her city of Chernihiv.

While in Indianapolis, Dasha lived with her host family, Angela and Andrew Beck, and she loved traveling with them. Dasha participated in Franklin Central's World Cultures Club and performed a belly dance routine with Mrs. Perkins in the Flashes Around the World festival.

Her favorite class was art, where she excelled at painting. Dasha also volunteered at the local library. Known for her sweet, friendly personality and artistic talents, Dasha made many close friendships. She loves Indianapolis and holds many fond memories from her time in our community.

We are asking our friends and family to please donate whatever you can to help ease this family’s devastation. Dasha still has close relatives in Chernihiv, Kyiv, and Sumy, where the situation is very dangerous. They have lost their income due to the war and all donations will help Dasha and her family live and find safety. Thank you so much.
