I am Jorja Battishill and I am a student veterinary nurse at Hartpury University in Gloucester. I am volunteering at Secret World Wildlife Rescue in Highbridge, this is a non-profit charity. Their main focus is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release animals and provide education to the public. I have recently attended an Introduction tour and have learnt valuable information about the variety of Wildlife we have in the UK and the importance of their survival. Wildlife plays an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and provides a sense of connection to nature. Any funds raised will go to developing education rooms for the public, to teach about the importance of wildlife and how to protect it. It will also go towards an X-ray machine, to allow quick images to be taken onsite. This will minimise travelling time to veterinary practices and reduce stress on wildlife. This is important to me as there has been a decline in wildlife species, due to many factors like; climate change, human activity, urban expansion, intensive agriculture, and industry. By fundraising for Secret World, I hope to restore some of what has been lost and improve the quality of life for Wildlife in the UK.
