Hi, I’m Jonathan, and my friend James and I set out to learn more about the history of LGBTQ+ rights in the UK. We wanted to understand the stories of the people who fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. But with so much information scattered across archives, textbooks, interviews, and newspapers, it felt overwhelming to even begin. So, we decided to change that.
The View From Here is a podcast that speaks directly to those who were part of the movement. From the organizers of the first UK Pride Parade in 1972, to the world’s first openly LGBTQ+ cabinet minister, to the real-life Jill from the powerful series It’s A Sin, we’ve captured stories of struggle, resilience, and joy. These are legacies that inspire and remind us of the debt we owe to those who came before us.
This project is entirely self-funded, recorded on evenings and weekends with limited resources. Now, we’re raising funds to help with editing, hosting, and marketing Season 1 of the podcast.
We’d be so grateful for your support in bringing these stories to life.
Thank you!
