Hello!! My name is Alannah Smith, and I am a 15 year old TY student in St David’s Holy Faith Secondary School, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.

I was lucky enough to be among 40 students in my year who were chosen for Team Barretstown 2025/26. As part of this amazing opportunity, we will be travelling to the Barretstown camp in Kildare around Easter next year. While we’re there, we’ll be taking part in fun activities, learning about the incredible work Barretstown does, and most importantly helping to prepare the camp for the following week, when many excited children and their families will arrive to stay.

Each student must fundraise at least €750, all of which goes directly to this wonderful charity. It’s so important that we raise as much as we can to support Barretstown and the life changing work that they do.

Barretstown has been supporting children living with cancer and other serious illnesses and their families since being founded in 1994. They provide free, specially designed camps and programmes that allow families to recharge, take a break from hospitals and treatments, and experience much needed joy and normality. Barretstown is all about helping children rediscover the fun and freedom of just being kids again, something every child deserves.

Since opening over 30 years ago, Barretstown has helped over 125,000 families to rebuild their lives, and I’m so grateful for the chance to contribute in any way I can.
