Funding Protesters via Hillman Grad (Lena Waithe)

The two of us - Brandon Phillips and Adam Levy grew up together. Black and white skins. Now grown men, still brothers from afar, and both still distance runners, we are raising money to donate to an effort by Lena Waithe, our friend from Evanston (via Chicago) who has become an icon in her fight for Black rights, LGBTQ rights, and using her platform for CHANGE. Lena's company, Hillman Grad Productions, is donating money DIRECTLY to Black/POC and LGBTQ protesters who need the money for basic human rights - paying rent, eating food, taking care of children. There is nothing more worthy than helping people who are out fighting for their right to not be killed by racists, bigots, or police.  These are people who have taken time away from work, or have no work from the already difficult climate in the US. They deserve support.

We are pairing together to run 4 miles, as hard and fast as we can, until we are out of breath. George Floyd was tortured for 8 minutes and 46 seconds until he was out of breath. We will run for his breath and we will run because we will share solidarity with a lack of air in our lungs. We want to raise $8460, representing the 8:46 that George Floyd suffered with a white police officer's knee on his neck. 

We invite you to join us on a hard run this Sunday, June 7th.  Brandon and Adam will share their thoughts afterwards. This is not a long-term fundraiser. We need this money now, to give it to the people who need it most. Lena is ensuring it gets into their hands directly. Please consider donating $10, $15, $20 bucks.
