Funding Big Queer Picnic 2024

Big Queer Picnic is an alternative grassroots Pride event. Started in Cardiff by a group of friends in 2011, we are run for the community, by the community with a big focus on accessibility. We will NEVER charge entry and we only platform Queer artists.

As time has gone on, more and more people have felt like they have needed an alternative to what is currently on offer, so the event has grown.

Due to feedback from the community and indeed the size of the event now, we find ourselves in the difficult position of asking for your help!

Some of our main priorities to fundraise for the 2024 Big Queer Picnic are:

- Hiring portaloos including accessible portaloos - whilst we have previously had access to local public toilets, we are aware of the growing nature of our event, and the need for further facilities including accessible facilities.

- Public liability insurance - BQP is run by a small group of core organisers, and with the growing nature of the event, Cardiff Council require us to have public liability insurance.

- High visibility vests - as part of our accessibility aims we are looking to have high visibility vests branded with BQP so that our guests know who to speak to about the event, the facilities, and the local area should they need to.

- Sound equipment - for a larger scale event we require sound equipment and a generator in order to provide you with the best experience possible.

- Cleaning supplies - the annual picnic occupies a public space, with permission from Cardiff Council, with this in mind we want to ensure that we leave the area clean and tidy.

We are committed to being accountable with regards to any funds we raise, and want to assure all our donors that everything is costed efficiently and more information on each funded item is available upon request.
