Fundación Emmanuel Mexicali A.C.

Hi All!

In October of this year, I was made aware of a Foster Home in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico that is in urgent need of assistance.

The name of the facility is Fundación Emmanuel and houses around 20 children... one of whom, Maria (age 15) is suffering from terminal brain cancer.

Fundación Emmanuel was established in 2002 and has helped care and provide for hundreds of children over the past 20 years by two native lovely, selfless women Martha and Lupita.

At this time the facility is in need of many dire repairs (both structurally and cosmetic) otherwise they will be forced to close down and the children will be removed and sent to different facilities.

A list of these include:

* Structural damage that can cause collapse of the building
* Full Kitchen repair- Stove doesn't work, they are in need of a freezer repair and sink.
* Dry Wall replacement all throughout the facility
* Girls & Boys Restroom sinks need to be replaced
* Heaters and new Air conditioning units (It gets to 120 degrees in the summer time)
* Front Door replacement
* Laundry room- both dryers aren't working neither are the washing machines.
* They do not have proper cabinets
* Roof Repairs

and dozens more...

I visited Fundación Emmanuel a few weeks ago to meet the kids and the Foster Mother, Lupita. Lupita and her mother, Martha, run the facility on their own. They are beautiful human beings with huge hearts. They literally give their blood, sweat and tears to these kids to give them what they need. Some of the most selfless women I have ever known.

There are approximately 20 children ages 4 - 17 who have just the bare necessities to survive. They share clothes and toys, but are missing many basic things that we take for granted. They have an open play area that has concrete slabs. After visiting the kids I asked them what they would want in their play area and they asked for: Soccer nets, turf over the concrete, a volleyball net and some plants so that they don’t have to run around in the dirt and kick up dust.

The kids also have an indoor play area that just has some random furniture and I plan on turning that into a real play area with sofas, some bean bags, board games and a working TV for the kids to watch movies and shows together.

One other major hurdle we are dealing with is a young girl named Maria. Maria was diagnosed with brain cancer and has recently lost her sight. The tumor is inoperable and we need to create a separate living area for her so she can be comfortable and receive 24 hour care. I will also be getting multiple opinions from other doctors to see if there is any other help she can be offered. Maria also has a younger brother who is in the foster facility.

Please watch this short video that I took of the property when I was there recently: Watch It Now Here:

My immediate goal is to raise enough money for the kitchen repair and remodel. The Mexican Government gave them notice that the kitchen needed a variety of repairs and that they were violating codes. The immediate kitchen repairs are going to cost over $9,000 USD.

I have been funding this project single handedly up until this point and I would genuinely appreciate any financial support to make sure that these kids and all of the future kids who come through Fundación Emmanuel have a home that is not just safe but is an optimal environment to grow up in.

Fundación Emmanuel is organized as a charity in Mexico. Donations may not be tax deductible. Please check with your accountant for tax advice.

All my love,

Will

PS. I plan on going there this upcoming week to surprise the kids with the best Christmas party they have ever had!
