Help send our Nevada Brain Bee Winner to Nationals
Donation protected
Dear Nevada Community,
We are reaching out on behalf of the Northern Nevada Brain Bee, an educational initiative aimed at fostering a greater understanding of neuroscience among high-achieving high school students interested in the brain in our region. The Northern Nevada Brain Bee is an integral part of Brain Awareness Week (BAW), a global initiative launched in 1996 by the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) and the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives. BAW's mission is to increase awareness of neuroscience in the general community, and it is celebrated in countries worldwide, traditionally in March.
The Brain Bee competition targets high achieving high school students. It operates on a three-tiered structure, consisting of local, national, and international competitions, and is celebrated in more than 50 countries! Each year, within each participating country, there are numerous Local (Regional) Brain Bee competitions. Local champions then advance to the National Brain Bee, and finally, National champions have the opportunity to compete at the prestigious International Brain Bee competition.
After hosting our Regional Northern Nevada Brain Bee competition, we are thrilled to announce that we have a very deserving young individual getting ready to compete in the Nationals! However we do not have the funds to send this student and their chaperone to the 2024 USA Brain Bee Championship at the University of Central Florida April 19-21.
We need your help! Your support will go directly to fund:
- National competition registration ($400)
- flights (~$1300)
- lodging for 4 nights (~$800)
- food, ground transportation & misc. costs (~$500)
No donation is too small, and our non-profit Society for Neuroscience Sierra Nevada Chapter can provide you with a tax-credit receipt. Please help us reach our goal and support our Nevada Regional winner compete in the Nationals!
