My name is Wilson Peralta, and this is the story of a dream that refused to die.
My father was a man without formal education, but with an extraordinary vision. He was a merchant, a fighter, a warrior of life. When everyone told him he was crazy for investing in a museum about independence, he kept going. When they criticized him for "wasting money" on buying historical pieces and preserving our cultural heritage, he didn't stop. He believed in something greater than himself.
Then COVID-19 came and took him away.
At that moment, I had a decision to make: let his legacy die as everyone expected, or continue a battle that no one else believed could be won.
I chose to fight.
**The Cost of Keeping History Alive**
Since my father's death, I have carried this project alone. Even close family members stopped believing. Some wanted to sell the pieces for their material value. I had to make difficult financial decisions to keep the collection intact.
I've paid for storage facilities. I've invested every available cent. I've sacrificed my credit here in the United States. I've stopped paying my own expenses to keep these pieces of our history alive.
Why? Because this museum is not mine. It's ours.
**The Only Traveling Museum of the Liberator Route in the World**
The Fundación Museo Galería Independencia is not an art museum. It's a cultural and historical museum dedicated exclusively to preserving the rich history of Latin American independence through powerful artwork—bronze sculptures of independence heroes, historical paintings, and pieces that bring the story of our freedom to life.
This project aims to preserve this legacy and bring it to a global audience, especially during FIFA World Cup 26.
We are the only traveling museum in the world dedicated to the Liberator Route.
We have brought the history of our freedom to communities in Colombia. We donated a bronze sculpture of General Próspero Pinzón that now stands in the main park of Villapinzón. We have educated and connected thousands of people with the roots of our independence. We have grown on social media, reaching people around the world who value knowing where we come from.
And now, we have the opportunity to take this legacy to the world stage.
**FIFA World Cup 26™: Our Window to the World**
The FIFA World Cup 26™ will be held here in the United States. Millions of people from around the world, especially Latin Americans, will come to this country. It will be the perfect moment for them to learn about our history, our culture, our struggle for freedom.
I have already spoken with the Colombian Embassy here in the United States. They have offered me an exhibition space while I find the permanent location for the museum during the World Cup.
The permits are progressing. The plan is clear. Only one thing is missing: the capital to make this dream a reality.
**How Will Your Donation Be Used?**
Goal: $28,000 USD
Every dollar raised will be specifically allocated to:
•$16,000 - Transportation and permits:Shipping the historical pieces from Colombia to the United States, including all necessary permits, customs documentation, insurance, and legal requirements for international importation and exhibition of cultural artifacts.
• $2,000 - Travel and coordination expenses: My personal travel to Colombia and back to the U.S. to personally oversee and coordinate the safe packing, transportation, and arrival of the collection.
•$10,000 - Professional museological script:This is the institutional "blueprint" of the museum—a comprehensive document created by certified museum experts that defines:
- The historical narrative and educational message of the exhibition
- How each artwork connects to tell the complete story of Latin American independence
- The visitor experience, exhibition layout, and interpretive materials
- Academic research, documentation, and historical context for each piece
This document is essential to be recognized as a legitimate cultural institution (not just a private collection) and is required by embassies, professional exhibition spaces, cultural organizations, and funding institutions. It transforms a collection into a museum.

Mi nombre es Wilson Peralta, y esta es la historia de un sueño que se negó a morir.
Mi padre fue un hombre sin estudios formales, pero con una visión extraordinaria. Era comerciante, luchador, guerrero de la vida. Cuando todos le decían que estaba loco por invertir en un museo sobre la independencia, él siguió adelante. Cuando le criticaban por "gastar dinero" en comprar piezas históricas y preservar nuestro patrimonio cultural, él no se detuvo. Creía en algo más grande que él mismo.
Entonces llegó el COVID-19 y se lo llevó.
En ese momento, yo tenía una decisión que tomar: dejar morir su legado como todos esperaban, o continuar una batalla que nadie más creía posible ganar.

**El Costo de Mantener Viva la Historia**
Desde la muerte de mi padre, he cargado este proyecto solo. Incluso miembros cercanos de mi familia dejaron de creer. Algunos querían vender las piezas por su valor material. Tuve que tomar decisiones financieras difíciles para mantener la colección intacta.
He pagado bodegas de almacenamiento. He invertido cada centavo disponible. He sacrificado mi crédito aquí en Estados Unidos. He dejado de pagar mis propios gastos para mantener vivas estas piezas de nuestra historia.
¿Por qué? Porque este museo no es mío. Es nuestro.
**El Único Museo Itinerante de la Ruta Libertadora en el Mundo**
La Fundación Museo Galería Independencia no es un museo de arte. Es un museo cultural e histórico dedicado exclusivamente a preservar la rica historia de la independencia latinoamericana a través de poderosas obras de arte—esculturas en bronce de héroes de la independencia, pinturas históricas y piezas que dan vida a la historia de nuestra libertad.
Este proyecto busca preservar este legado y llevarlo a una audiencia global, especialmente durante la Copa Mundial FIFA 26.
Somos el único museo itinerante en el mundo dedicado a la Ruta Libertadora.
Hemos llevado la historia de nuestra libertad a comunidades en Colombia. Donamos la escultura del General Próspero Pinzón que se encuentra en el parque principal de Villapinzón. Ya he hablado con la Embajada de Colombia aquí en Estados Unidos. Me han ofrecido un espacio de exposición mientras encuentro la ubicación definitiva para el museo durante la Copa Mundial.
Los permisos están avanzados. El plan está claro. Solo falta una cosa: el capital para hacer realidad este sueño.
**¿Para Qué Se Usará Tu Donación?**
Meta: $28,000 USD
Cada dólar recaudado se destinará específicamente a:
•$16,000 - Transporte y permisos: Envío de las piezas históricas desde Colombia hasta Estados Unidos, incluyendo todos los permisos necesarios, documentación aduanal, seguro y requisitos legales para la importación y exhibición internacional de artefactos culturales.
•$2,000 - Gastos de viaje y coordinación: Mi viaje personal a Colombia y de regreso a Estados Unidos para supervisar y coordinar personalmente el embalaje seguro, transporte y llegada de la colección.
•$10,000 - Guion museológico profesional:Este es el "plano institucional" del museo—un documento integral creado por expertos certificados en museología que define:
- La narrativa histórica y mensaje educativo de la exhibición
- Cómo cada obra de arte se conecta para contar la historia completa de la independencia latinoamericana
- La experiencia del visitante, diseño de la exhibición y materiales interpretativos
- Investigación académica, documentación y contexto histórico de cada pieza
Este documento es esencial para ser reconocidos como institución cultural legítima (no solo una colección privada) y es requerido por embajadas, espacios de exhibición profesionales, organizaciones culturales e instituciones de financiamiento. Transforma una colección en un museo.
