Hi Everyone,
I'm pledging to walk/run 1000km in 2021 and in addition to seeking your support, I will contribute €1,000 of my own money on reaching my goal. This is to help fundraise for: -
'Ballinahown Sports Park - Multi Games Astroturf and Hurling Wall Project'
Every euro received will be used in the construction of the project, in addition, those same euros will help the project avail of finance grants. In this case, every €1 raised will leverage as much as €3 in grants!
The Astroturf facility will serve the children of Ballinahown National School, local Soccer, local Gaelic Games and promoting fitness and wellbeing generally in our Westmeath/Offaly border community.
My children attend the school adjacent to the project. The ample grass areas around the school are waterlogged/unsuitable for play much of the year. The proposed facility will be a massive leap forward for them and for all the local schoolchildren for many years to come.
Up to €100,000 MUST be raised locally in a small rural community, a mammoth task, so I'd like to do my part.
To reach my stated goal of 1000km in 2021, I will need to run/walk the equivalent of a marathon, every 2 weeks for the year.
I have already started my physical challenge on Jan 1st 2021, (to see if I was able!) and as I write tonight, 30th Jan, I have not missed a day of walking/running and have 108km recorded. I will record my mileage on Map My Run, for proof, (if any was needed!!) and update my progress from time to time.
So please, please support me and together we will support this wonderful project.

P.S. The various project committees, of which I am also a small part, are working hard in a voluntary capacity - securing planning permission, generating designs, seeking grants and now seeking business supports and local financial contributions. They have other fundraisers planned. If you unable to support me at this time, pls consider helping the scheme, if approached in some capacity, at some time in the near future.
