Keri’s Story

In May 2021, after a second episode of lower right abdominal pain, Keri went to urgent care at 2am under the impression she had appendicitis.

However, after a few hours, bloodwork, and a CT, Keri was told she had a mass in her colon and 2 lesions in her liver - indicative of Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

Over the next 13 months, Keri underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy, followed by 4 months of targeted immunotherapy to slow the spread of disease.

Keri continued to work throughout her diagnosis, preferring to stay busy, and for the love of her career and those she served. She pushed through with the most beautiful smile and impressive attitude by placing one foot in front of the other.

From the moment of her diagnosis, Keri became a huge advocate for colorectal screening and encouraged her family, friends, colleagues, and just about anyone who would listen, to get a colonoscopy! She also acted as a mentor to newly diagnosed colon cancer patients and took the time to help in any way she could.

Throughout her treatment, Keri remained a steadfast friend, sister, and as always, an incredible mom and wife.

Last week, after being in and out of hospital for the past month, Keri made the decision to stay at the hospital where she would be comfortable and could spend time with the people she loved. The Peckham family were all on the same page and supported this decision.

On Sunday, August 7th, Keri died peacefully as a result of complications of colon cancer. Part of the peace she felt came from knowing that Chase, Clay, & Avery are very loved and cared for by their endless community of family and friends and will continue to be, even with her passing. She will be remembered always and missed fiercely.
