Help Us Keep Serving Women While We Build Our Future Home

For 28 years, My Sister's Closet has helped over 4,000 local, vulnerable women living in poverty find employment by providing mentors and advocates, as well as training and resources to rebuild their confidence and create stable futures for themselves and their children.

The lease at our current location ends July 7, 2026 – (Unless the CIB board, overseeing the expansion of the Monroe County Convention Center, grants our request for an extension).

While we've secured a mortgage for our new building, it still needs significant renovation before we can move in. As we work toward that goal, we need to move both our Client Services and the Resale Boutique operations to temporary locations. This will ensure that no woman experiences service interruptions or feels left behind during this transition period.

To bridge that gap, we are asking for your help!

My Sister's Closet needs to equip a temporary resale boutique location with basic retail essentials to set up shop elsewhere. This will help us to continue raising essential mission funding while allowing us to keep providing professional clothing to clients served by MSC.

By May 14, 2026, we are hoping to get help with the following:

• 10 Clothing Racks (6 ft.) — $1,500 (~$150 each)
• Square Payment System — $1,100 (~$58/month payment plan)
• 2 Commercial Steamers — $800 (~$400 each)
• 2,000 Dress Hangers — $1,060 (~$53 per box of 100)
• 1,000 Skirt/Pant Hangers — $660 (~$66 per box of 100)
• Tagging Supplies — $300
• Signage — $500
• 6 Tables — $600 (~$83 each)

*Total Goal: $6,520*

What will this money do for us?
Keep the clothing part of our client services in operation while our new building is being renovated.

Where will these items be used?

My Sister's Closet has negotiated a lease for a temporary location for the resale boutique part of our organization at the College Mall. We anticipate moving in June.

What are our guiding principles at My Sister's Closet?

  • Every woman should have the opportunity to provide for the basic needs of herself and her family.
  • Women experience unique challenges to success because of their physical attributes, societal prejudices, or traditional roles, as well as responsibilities as mothers or caregivers. These differences can sometimes mean they will have more difficulty moving forward to become self-sufficient and, thus, need more community assistance to help them succeed.
  • We believe that by changing the current economic circumstances of mothers, you increase the chances of their children thriving and finding life success as they get older.
  • It is vital to the success of our society that women are provided with the ability to become positive role models and mentors.
  • Ultimately, life happiness for all of us is determined by the millions of meaningful connections we continually make when choosing our positive networks, using our spare time constructively, nurturing our bodies, and the way we act as stewards of our environment.
