Hi, I’m Kimberley Collins (she/her) a female choreographer, queer creative, and co-founder of Unapologetic, a dance company I run with my partner, MJ McGibbon (they/them).
For the past eight years, we’ve built Unapologetic as a space for underrepresented voices in dance, where artists are celebrated, supported, and given the opportunity to take up space boldly and unapologetically.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, my work is deeply rooted in art as activism, using movement as resistance, storytelling, and healing. I’m passionate about creating space for queer, trans, and non-binary dancers to thrive in the dance industry and wider political climate, that is actively attempting to erase us.
Right now, I need your support to help platform my work through an Arts Council England-funded project that will spotlight queer artists, reclaim performance spaces, and build inclusive creative communities. I’m raising match funding to make this project a reality, a project that is vital to both the dance industry and the LGBTQIA+ community, especially in a time when we’re seeing rising discrimination, erasure, and pushback against queer lives and voices.
Your support will directly contribute to keeping queer-led art alive through creating events, immersive performances, workshops, educational talks and meet ups. Keeping it visible, and loud to help make space for the stories that need to be told now more than ever.
We are not a tick box. We are not something to accessorise your vision with when it’s Pride Month. Our stories, our identities, and our artistry deserve space, support, and long-term commitment, not seasonal visibility.
Every donation counts. Thank you for standing with us.
