Thank you for taking the time to read this. It's not every day that we find ourselves in need and not knowing where to turn. I'd like to tell you about my friend who needs more help than I can offer at this time. Tristan Lundy, a 31 year NATCA member and 34 year employee of the Federal Aviation Administration has found himself wondering where to take himself and family. The government shut down has taken away his means to provide for his family.
Well before the government shut down, Tristan took his wife and daughter from their home to live in a hotel. It was the best option for the three at the time due to his wife's diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and his daughter's Autism. The medical care and physical therapy for his wife and daughter is continuous and the cost continues to pile up. Before long Tristan lost his house due to the financial hardship of providing for his family. He sought legal advice for filing bankruptcy but has been denied because he makes "too much" money. He tried to make improvements to his house in order to sell it, but essentially it was too late. His emergency funds were drained.
The hotel has been very kind to the Lundy family. They have provided the family with numerous free nights, but every business has its limitations.
Our co-workers have banned together and were able to secure their room for a few more nights. However we are all concerned about our draining emergency funds as none of us are getting paid. That is why this platform was chosen to ask for help. Tristan was hesitant to let us publicize his story. He isn't a person who easily asks for help. He has great pride in his career and is one of the best controllers I know. He shows up to work daily, ready for assignment, and you'd never know how tough he has it by his calm, laid back demeanor. He emminates professionalism. Please call on your Congress and Senate members to end this shut down. Please donate to the Lundy family to help secure their well-being.
