Note: All donations will be transferred directly to Luat once the campaign reaches its goal, or before he officially departs on his Road to Old Trafford Journey.
Hi friends,
Thank you for taking a moment to read this message.
My name is Tram. I’m currently working in Australia, and I’m helping my friend Luat raise funds for an extraordinary journey driven by purpose and heart.
Luat is about to begin a solo cycling expedition from Vietnam to Old Trafford, called Road to Old Trafford. This journey represents the pursuit of his lifelong dream as a Manchester United fan of nearly 22 years, a call to take action for Mother Nature, and a mission to raise $31,000, one dollar for every kilometer cycled, to support Vietnamese children living with critical illnesses and difficult circumstances.
I’ve been following Luat’s journey since the very beginning. Back in 2020, he left his job and started cycling alone across Vietnam. Along the way, he picked up trash, encouraged environmental awareness, and inspired communities to reconnect with nature, the Earth, and one another. What many people don’t know is that this journey began as a way to save his own life. In 2016, Luat was diagnosed with depression. For four long years, he struggled and nearly gave up, but cycling gave him a new path forward.
I first met Luat completely by chance while traveling through Laos with my friend Ari. We were riding motorbikes; he was cycling solo through a remote region. No messages. No plans. Yet our paths crossed, purely by fate.
He calls his upcoming expedition Road to Old Trafford - a ride for his dream, for Mother Nature, and for his community. And in truth, this is exactly what he has already created: change. Change for himself, his friends, and the communities he’s touched. Trees have been planted. People facing hardship have been supported. Luat is living proof that even one person on a bicycle can make a real difference.
Road to Old Trafford is a solo journey across 29 countries and 3 continents, covering 31,000 kilometers over 22 months. Along the way, Luat hopes to raise $31,000 to help children in Vietnam who need it most.
If successful, Luat will likely become the first Vietnamese person to complete a transcontinental solo cycling journey of this scale.
Right now, he is working tirelessly to prepare—reaching out to organizations, individuals, and communities to raise the essential operational budget needed to make this journey possible.
As his friend, supporter, and fellow Vietnamese, I’ve created this fundraising campaign to help bring his dream to life—and I sincerely hope you’ll join me.
According to his plan, Luat needs at least $7,000 to cover essential costs:
- Visas & travel documents: $1,000 (29 countries)
- Basic accommodation: $3,000 (prioritizing homestays and local hosts)
- Transport for sea crossings or special cases: $1,000
- Connectivity & communication tools: $1,000
- Emergency funds: $1,200
Total estimated budget: $7,200
Reaching this goal would not only cover Luat’s essential expenses, but also ease the mental and emotional burdens of the journey—giving him the freedom to fully immerse himself in cycling, storytelling, community connection, and fundraising with genuine heart and purpose.
Thank you for your time and kindness. Together, we can help turn this journey into reality—one pedal, one kilometer, and one act of kindness at a time.
