Fund a Christmas Tree at Leestone Park

Donation protected
As we approach the most magical time of the year, we have an incredible opportunity to bring the festive spirit to our housing estate by erecting a stunning pre-lit Christmas tree. This grand centerpiece will transform the heart of Leestone Park, creating joyous memories for years to come.

The Vision:
Imagine the joy in the eyes of children and the warmth it will bring to our community when the Leestone Park Christmas tree is lit up for the first time. We aim to foster a sense of togetherness, unity, and holiday cheer that can be enjoyed by all residents. The tree will stand proudly on the green between Kemsley Drive and Shackleton Grove, becoming a symbol of our shared festive spirit.

The Perfect Tree:
We've sourced the perfect Christmas tree for our community from a reputable supplier who specializes in creating outdoor woodland pine Christmas trees. These trees have been chosen for their stunning natural appearance, using a mix of PE & PVC foliage, and are known for their robustness. They have been trusted by national landmarks like St. Paul's Cathedral and top hotels, making them a perfect fit for Leestone Park.

For more details of the tree please view the Commercial Guide.

Ease of Installation:
The chosen tree is not only beautiful but also easy to install. It's designed to be simple to construct. Plus, with the option to pre-fluff branches and decorate them in advance, we can minimize the time workers spend at height during installation. This will ensure the safety of those setting up the tree.

Sustainable and Expandable:
One of the fantastic features of this tree is its expandability. We can simply purchase additional sections to extend its height. This is not just an investment in one season but for many years to come.

A 4m tree would cost £3,594, 5m tree £5,394 and a 6m tree £7,554.

Eco-Friendly and Cost-Efficient:
The tree comes pre-lit with thousands of energy-efficient LEDs. These LEDs are low voltage, bright, and long-lasting, reducing power consumption. The tree even features a clever design where each branch section is individually connected, ensuring that if one section is tampered with, only that small part will go out, simplifying repairs.

FAQ
What happens if we do not hit our target?
If we fail to reach any kind of target this year your donation will roll over into funding a tree for 2024. If no target is reached by then all donations will be refunded.

Where will the tree be stored? - The tree is built around a steel frame so can be taken apart in sections. A resident has volunteered to store the tree on the communities behalf.

Who owns the tree?
The tree would belong to the residents. Once a recognised residents association is formed the ownership of the tree will transfer to that.

Will the tree be insured?
Yes, the tree will be insured including public liability.

What options were considered?

Cut tree - The council and Rushmere Park were contacted and they informed us that the tree they get is imported, not grown locally. As it turns out, a real 6ft tree that you would have in your living room takes around 10-12 years to grow. A 20ft (6m) tree would take significantly longer to grow so it really does not make sense to chop a mature tree like that down every year just for us to enjoy for a month. Then you have the question of transporting and securing this cut tree. In town they have a stand built into the ground, I don't think we have this option.

Planted tree - The option of planting a tree is good in theory, but then you would have a massive tree in the middle of a communal green for 11 months of the year and would lose that space that could be used for other purposes. As it grows taller, it will get harder and harder to decorate; eventually, we will have to use cherry pickers or install scaffolding, which is costly (money and resources) and dangerous to anyone who has to work at heights.

Commercial-grade artificial tree - The commercial tree suggested is modular and built around a steel frame (manufactured in the UK), so it can be decorated and assembled at a safe height. It can be securely weighted and pinned down, so it will withstand any kind of weather thrown at it and will not damage the ground that it is on. Lastly, it can be easily stored for future use; we hope for at least 10+ years.
