"O-Town Walls" is Downtown Ontario Arts Districts First Annual Muralfest!!! It will be the largest public art initiative in the City and we would love YOUR support. Every dollar counts!
What is a "MuralFest"?
A muralfest is when multiple murals are painted on multiple walls, typically in one particular area or neighborhood, all at once or during a period of time, such as a few days to a week. It's a super fun art-filled event for the whole community to enjoy!
WHY MURALS?
Murals are an amazing thing. It's a huge piece of public art, created by a very talented artist that does so much for a community....
- Murals breathe life into old buildings and activate dead spaces into amazing destinations.
- Murals beautify cities and show the community that someone cares.
- Murals act as outdoor open-air galleries, bringing joy and smiles to whoever comes in contact with its beauty.
- Murals also reduce crime, increase foot traffic, help local businesses, and support local artists....what more can we ask?
So, our goal here in Downtown Ontario Arts District is to cover as many walls as we can with amazing art during the week of October 13th - 18th of 2025.
And we can use your help!!
One thing you should know is that artists execute murals during a muralfest for typically a fraction of what it would cost to simply hire an artist to complete a mural. So, we do need to raise money for materials, travel, food, etc. but the artists themselves are contributing as well with their time and talents:
They do this because....
- Artists love to create, spread their art, connect with the community and fellow artists, so they jump at the chance to participate in something so special.
- It's an honor for an artist to create a mural and see their work on a large scale, and because of this, they are willing to work with communities to create these open-air galleries at a price that makes it within reach. We appreciate that so much!
But, of course, we do want to take good care of the artists while they are spreading joy and creating art. There is a lot of logistics, hotels, food, lifts, paint, etc., and all of that requires funding.
This is where you come in....
