I’m Miranda Grabau. My dad, Mike, has been dealing with many health issues the past several months. He decided to get checked, but Urgent Care told him to go to the ER because his pain seemed serious. After waiting 6 hours in the ER, they admitted him to perform a colonoscopy. A few days later, the doctors diagnosed him with stage 2-3 colon cancer. The next day, we received more details. The mass was three masses which formed into one. The mass, as a whole, is 15-17 cm in diameter, and it was confirmed to be stage 3.

After a week of processing this and getting a game plan for the chemo treatment, my dad went to another doctor to check on a cough he’s had for 2 years. The doctor dove deep on some scans and discovered lung cancer. Currently, he is at stage 4 cancer altogether. After coming up with a new game plan for a new diagnosis, I wanted to not only create an outlet for fundraising, but also encouragement.

I created JoyInTheMorning.Co (JITM) for this very purpose. Our family believes that even though there might be confusion, grief, and difficulty, we will experience joy soon! I wanted to create a brand that would not only encourage my family but also have an impact on anyone else; so, I chose Psalm 30:5.
