One of our dearest friends, mentors, and community advocates, Jamie Freeman, is a 61-year-old transgender woman who has been sober for over 25 years. Throughout these years, she has remained steadfast in her dedication to our LGBTQIA+ community, with a tight focus on supporting transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Jamie has been there for many of us when we hit rock bottom, offering structure, treatment, and housing.
With the recent changes in laws enabling better insurance coverage for gender-affirming care, many of Jamie's procedures will finally be covered. However, significant financial gaps remain, particularly when taking time off work to heal and recover. Jamie has been imperative in helping many transgender women on their journeys, ensuring their voices are heard and their outcomes are successful.
Jamie will undergo several procedures to align her physical characteristics with her true self, a journey that encompasses mind, body, and spirit. Very few get to undertake this transformative path, and Jamie is ready and supported by those who know and love her.
Therefore, I'm reaching out to our LGBTQIA+ community to ask for your financial assistance to help Jamie as she takes the necessary time off to heal. At 62, she can manage only to take on so much overtime, and your support can make a tremendous difference.
Please consider donating to assist Jamie financially during her recovery period. Every bit helps and brings Jamie one step closer to her complete and authentic self.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
Warm regards, Pride Recovery Community.
