Dear friends, My apologies for the group message​. I know it’s been a while since we were together and I hope we can get together in the near-ish future. I’m writing tonight because I'm hoping you’ll help support me with IVF treatments so that I can become a parent. I've wanted to love a child for years, far more than a decade, and I'm taking a step towards independent parenting by choice. If you know me, you know how long I’ve searched for what has led me here to you. I'm asking if you'd assist me with doctors' fees and paying for the treatments.

Due to a series of events in my life, including a pandemic, I've missed the United Healthcare insurance cutoff age for coverage for IUI and IVF procedures, which means that I am self-funding the doctor's visits, the genetic testing, other medical procedures and the holistic prenatal care myself. I’ve had an initial visit with a clinic (in New York City for an initial consultation, the ultrasound, blood test, an essential visit with an ObGyn) and need to return in order to move forward with my hope for a family.

In my initial consultation, it was incredible to see an ultrasound and learn that there is technology to lovingly grow my eggs into people. Learning about the process enriched my self-understanding, knowing that I can produce a person. Out of pocket IVF costs, however, are steep for people who are above the age required by insurance coverage. In spite of these healthcare biases, people living with ovaries and uteruses can have healthy babies for years after an arbitrary age. I have even seen articles documenting success for people in their 50s. While I continue to search for love and a secure, committed relationship, I commit to science with the determination to become a wonderful parent.

We are always the perfect age to love a person. Missing the age mark is just a technicality. We are always here for love, a fact that I know most people agree with. There is a clinic near me in New York that works with people my age and I plan to contact alternates for second opinions, including a practice in New Haven.

Some of you might ask: What does having a baby while independent mean to me? Why should you help me? Because choosing this path means being liberated. People living with ovaries have fought for reproductive freedom for decades. IVF technology provides us with the means to plan a pregnancy. When this technology becomes freely accessible to all people with ovaries, we'll be more empowered. Already I see how academic workers with ovaries can plan implantations before an academic year so that they can give birth after commencement. It isn't only academics that benefit, it's anyone who needs to plan ahead. The gift of planning is an incredible force. It is power over time, respect for the material self. The genetic testing helps ensure healthy babies and protects child and parent. In addition to the personal reasons for wanting a baby, I join this movement for the feminist force it represents.

Therefore, I'm seeking fellowship and assistance in growing a family. I've wanted a family for years. I have parented, just have not yet involved pregnancy in the process. I look forward to reading, singing, writing with my baby, my child, while teaching them how to cook, speak, listen, sharing with them the beauty in the universe. I'd be so happy having a baby, loving them as they are, growing into themselves and discovering themselves. Please help me with this goal. The world is going to be a better place with my child here with me.
