My name is Keri Stewart and I thank you in advance for helping me raise money for the preliminary expenses for HOPE Harbor, formerly known as Camp Hope. HOPE Harbor is a sober-living transitional housing facility in Hillsdale, Michigan.
In order to open our doors, we need to raise money for engineer fees for blueprints, permits, drywall, insulation, and other building supplies. We also need safety requirement items like grab bars in the shower, fire extinguishers, and a fire exit sign. Additionally, we will need bedding and hygiene items.
Camp Hope was originally intended to be a temporary place off public land for the unhoused to stay while another organization created a permanent homeless shelter. That year-round shelter has never opened so we are taking the necessary steps to help people obtain stable permanent housing via HOPE Harbor.
Over the past 2 1/2 years over 320 people have been helped at Camp Hope. The average stay was 3-6 months. A few cases took considerably longer due to the time it takes to be approved by disability. But the program is intended to quickly help progress toward stability and permanent housing.
So, what is HOPE Harbor? It will be a sober-living transitional facility to help those who are experiencing homelessness access the tools to transition into permanent sustainable housing. How the program will work:
1. Providing comprehensive wrap-around services that help them with the tools, skills and support they will need to sustain sobriety or prevent developing OUD and any co-occurring SUD/MH conditions. They will have access to resources like recovery housing, housing assistance programs, onsite and offsite counseling and case management.
2. They will have direct access to job training, transportation and assistance with job placement.
3. We will have onsite peer-recovery groups, which will include support groups, recovery and prevention groups for individuals with OUD and any co-occurring SUD/MH conditions.
4. Connections to facilities for those who have or are at risk of developing OUD and any co-occurring SUD/MH conditions that require a stronger program than we currently can provide.
Our Mission: Provide Transitional Services for Hillsdale's Unhoused
Our Vision: Seeking to put God's love into action, HOPE Harbor provides transitional shelter and supportive resources to people experiencing homelessness with the goal of stability and maintaining permanent housing. Helping Hands Harbors Hope.
We are planning an Open House for anyone interested in our program and how it is beneficial for our neighbors staying here and our entire community. At the open house we will answer questions about the services offered, what sober living entails, the stats from the last 2 1/2 years and how we plan to improve upon them, stories from our campers about the impact Camp Hope had on their lives and our plans for future funding. I hope you will join us!
Thank you so much for your donation! Your donation will make a difference in the lives of our friends here at HOPE Harbor! We can't do it without you!
