On Thursday, February 6th, 2025, Carol unexpectedly passed away. An hour prior, she was chatting and laughing on the phone with her daughter Amanda and texting with her sister Gloria. The sudden shock of losing Carol has been heart-wrenching and difficult for Amanda and for everyone who knew and loved her. Carol was an incredible human that many people described as an angel walking on earth. She was a sweet, kind, and loving soul.

Beating the odds over and over again, Carol survived nearly 19 years after a massive heart attack in 2006. Having such a delicate health condition has meant many years of appointments to monitor her condition. Amanda, her “sweet pea,” was always there for her through thick and thin, advocating on Carol’s behalf and doing everything she could to support Carol and enhance her quality of life. Amanda gave up her scholarship and promising career in music to return home to care for her mom. Years later, Amanda put her Ph.D. on hold to care for both Carol and her father Don until his passing. Even in the middle of Amanda’s battle with breast cancer, she postponed treatments to help her parents and support Don as he passed from renal failure.

Carol’s relationship with her daughter Amanda was incredibly special. The two were inseparable and talked to each other multiple times a day. They often finished each other’s sentences and knew exactly what the other was thinking. The loss of Carol has been devastating for Amanda. Funds received will help Amanda fully honor Carol’s final wishes as well as help her cover all of the unexpected expenses that arise with planning a celebration of life.
