Hi Friends!

I'm Brianna and my husband is Angel. We are a transgender couple currently living in Las Cruces New Mexico. We moved here a year ago from Texas because Texas had become unsafe to live as a trans person. We are here in New Mexico, and we are safER, but still not safe. Every day we see another state or another federal initiative to make life impossible for trans people. And when one state finds success, others follow. Essentially, living in the U.S. has become untenable for Angel and I.

We are trying to immigrate to Canada. Specifically, we are wanting to immigrate to British Columbia. This is an expensive process. We've already paid $5000+ in lawyer's fees, fees for educational testing, fees for review of our education history, and on and on and on including flights to and from Denver to take a language competency test.

The biggest hurdle we face is that we must show that we have $15k in the bank in our savings. This is a requirement by the Canadian government so they know we have enough to live on while we are looking for work in Canada. So far we have just over $5k. And this is where we need help. We have covered all of the actual fees and travel required, but every time something goes wrong with the car, or a funeral happens (my dad died last month) or anything unexpected, we have to tap into the savings.

So, we are trying to raise funds to go directly into the savings account (that will not be touched for any reason, even in an emergency). These funds will help ensure that Angel and I can get out of the U.S. and get to safety.
