CHUTE is a newspaper by the people, for the people. Created by a small team in Hull, we feel strongly that we all deserve independent news that ISN'T lining the pockets of billionaires. Not your usual newspaper, CHUTE is all about:
- Shining a light on grassroots people-led movements that are fighting to make the world a better place (locally, regionally, nationally and even internationally)
- Informing, inspiring and upskilling ourselves for the tough times ahead
- Going beyond the nonsense and point scoring of party politics and Westminster
- Starting honest conversations and being ok with disagreement. No cancelling or shouting down
- Bringing people together across our city with a common cause: to stop waiting for politicians to do the right things, and instead building our own parachutes out of this failing system and into the next one
Everything is run by volunteers, and although we've started small we have big ambitions to write more, get more papers into more hands across the city and include letters and articles from more of the people of Hull.
But printing costs and paper don't come free! So we can focus on writing stuff you want to read, we're trying to raise money to keep us going, keep us fully independent, and keep the paper free for those that need it.
If you can donate anything at all, or if you like what we're doing and can afford to do a monthly donation - we would be so, so grateful.

Thank you for being part of creating Hull's new independent newspaper, challenging the status quo and mainstream media. CHUTE: together we'll break the fall.
CHUTE was launched with help from Cooperation Hull, a member-led grassroots group working to create a real local democracy and an economy that works for everyone.
