Fund a Gathering Space for Local Retirement Home

Donation protected
Hey everyone!

We are Tyler Ditmars and Jacob Banas, both currently juniors at Naperville North High School in Naperville, Illinois, and the co-founders of our nonprofit, Communally. In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, all of us around the world have had the chance to experience firsthand what long term detachment from friends, family, and acquaintances can feel like.

During this lengthy quarantine, we came to the realization that similar detachment from loved ones and acquaintances may be commonplace for some people residing in assisted living communities. To remedy this, we have started Communally, with which we will fundraise to ultimately construct a garden and/or outdoor gathering space for the residents at Arista Healthcare Naperville, a local assisted living facility just a few blocks from our school.

We hope that by establishing a special place for residents to socialize with one another, we will in turn be providing them with the gift of some much-needed friendly interaction, something we are all longing for right about now.

Until it is safe to do otherwise, Communally will proceed as an entirely online nonprofit. As soon as the stay at home orders have receded, and it is appropriate to interact in person with members of Arista Healthcare, we will take your generous donations and put them to use! All proceeds will go directly into creating this social space/garden. Any funds not allocated its creation will still be given to Arista Healthcare directly, through either a check or some other means of assistance. There also remains the possibility for a public fundraising event (ex: cookout, exhibition sporting match, etc.) which we will host and announce at a later date, so stay tuned.

We ask you to please donate any amount to this cause. Everything helps. If you are interested, any donation of $50 will be rewarded with a Communally t-shirt (pictured below) as a thank you for supporting our cause - please be sure to leave your full name, and fill out the linked form  so that we can coordinate shirt delivery. If you donate over $50, but do not desire a shirt, please do not fill out the form.

During this difficult time, it is important to reflect on what you have, and how you are able to help others. Let’s all do our part to brighten the lives of our senior citizens. Together, we can all live Communally!

Thank you!
