Fuinseog and Fréamh Farm need your help, Storm Eowyn damage!

My name is Aitor, and in 2012, I founded Fuinseog Farm, a market garden dedicated to growing high-quality, nutritious vegetables in Co. Galway using sustainable agricultural methods. With years of hard work and the support of friends, family, and volunteers, the farm flourished, supplying fresh produce to households and restaurants throughout Galway. Over time, it became more than just a farm—it became a place of learning, healing, and community, welcoming volunteers from around the world to experience regenerative agriculture and the joy of gathering, sharing food, and celebrating together.

In 2024, the Whitworth family joined the farm, bringing fresh energy, skills, and experience. Under the name Fréamh Farm, they continued supplying households and restaurants while expanding to local markets. They have carried on the farm's ethos of providing fresh, local, and nutritious food.

However, the farm has faced severe challenges. In January 2024, Storm Darragh tore the plastic from one of our two large commercial polytunnels. With the help of friends, we managed to replace it, allowing the Whitworth to launch their market gardening venture. Then, in January 2025, Storm Eowyn struck with even greater force. The second tunnel lost its plastic, while the newly repaired tunnel took the brunt of the storm and was damaged beyond repair. Alongside the structural damage, crops inside the tunnels suffered significant losses.

Our goal is to repair and rebuild the farm so we can continue our mission of sustainable food production. We also want to reinforce the farm’s resilience against the increasingly unpredictable climate. Unfortunately, at the moment, growing chemical-free, sustainable vegetables in Ireland is not a highly profitable business. The extent of the damage is unprecedented and beyond our financial means to repair alone.
