The Heart of South Stanley
Every week, a dedicated team of volunteers from the South Stanley Partnership hits the road. They visit local stores like Asda, M&S, and Aldi to collect surplus food—everything from fresh bread and ready meals to cans of pop and snacks.
This isn't just "food waste" to us; it's the stock for our Community Table. This table is a place where anyone in our neighborhood can come and help themselves to what they need, no questions asked.
The Challenge We’re Facing
While the food is generously donated by retailers, getting it from the store to the table isn't free. Our volunteers use their own vehicles to make these essential pickups every single week.
With the cost of fuel continuing to rise, it has become incredibly difficult for the charity to keep up with reimbursing our drivers for their petrol. We never want to ask our volunteers to pay out of their own pockets to do this vital work, but our funds are stretched to the limit.
How You Can Help
We are raising funds specifically to cover the fuel costs for our collection deliveries. By donating, you are directly ensuring that:
The shelves stay full: We can continue our weekly rounds to all major supermarkets.
Food stays local: Good food goes into bellies, not bins.
Our volunteers stay on the road: We can support the people who give their time so selflessly.
Every pound counts. The cost of one coffee could cover the fuel for a trip to Aldi that feeds dozens of local families.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends and family. Your support helps keep South Stanley fed, connected, and cared for.
Thank you for being part of our community!
