Fuel for a corrections reform movement!

Dear friends, supporters, and criminal justice reform advocates:

At Social Purpose Corrections (SPC), our nonprofit mission is audacious; we aim to revolutionize corrections throughout the United States and eventually worldwide. We plan to do this by replacing profit with purpose and opportunity.

Our team is actively working with government leaders and advocates, creating a vision for a future where prisons, jails, and community corrections function collaboratively under governmental and non-governmental organizations, with SPC as the central link. Our mission is to reshape the future of corrections, anchoring it in empathy and innovation. We aim to catalyze this change, infusing the correctional system with a human-centered approach that significantly alters its fundamental nature. We are committed to a more humane future for corrections and diligently work towards this goal. However, your support is crucial for this vision to become a reality.

We represent a fundamental shift in the correctional landscape, putting people over profit. Our mission is to introduce more compassionate, safe, and humane options for our leaders, breaking free from the traditional paradigm and challenging the deep-rooted, resource-rich private corrections sector. We offer a refreshing and dynamic alternative to the prevailing culture, grounded in human dignity and respect. Our resolve is unyielding, and our motivation is unrelenting. Yet, we face the practical limitations of funding as a nonprofit. We're committed to transforming our groundbreaking, people-focused vision into reality and seek your support. We are not merely a nongovernment organization but a cause - prioritizing human welfare over financial gains.

My name is Brian Koehn, and I am the founder and CEO of Social Purpose Corrections, the first of its kind 501(c)(3) non-profit prison/jail model. I am one of the most diverse, experienced leaders in US corrections. Throughout my career, I have successfully managed and overseen five prisons as a Warden and complex Warden, collaborating with 16 distinct jurisdictions, including the Bureau of Prisons, United States Marshals Service, Immigration authorities, various states, and jails housing both male and female residence across all custody levels. Before assuming the role of Warden, I held a position where I oversaw the security of 65 prisons and jails nationwide. Throughout my tenure, I became intimately familiar with the root causes and challenges that plague our corrections system. I knew what changes were necessary, but the authority and resources needed to implement meaningful change seemed always out of reach. This spurred a persistent internal voice urging me to do more - to be more. Responding to this call, I took a leap of faith, left my successful career behind, and founded the nation's - and indeed, the world's - first full-service nonprofit corrections corporation: Social Purpose Corrections (SPC).

Did you know....

  • With nearly two million people behind bars at any given time, the United States has the highest incarceration rate of any country in the world, and we’ve consistently maintained a 2/3 failure rate for decades.
  • Black individuals make up about 33% of the total prison population despite comprising only around 13% of the overall U.S. population. Hispanic individuals accounted for approximately 24% of the prison population while comprising about 18% of the general population.
  • The average lifespan of a correctional officer is 59 years old, 16 years less than the general public, showing how toxic the current culture is.
  • 95% of those incarcerated will be released from the system.

These staggering figures reflect the extreme toxicity of a culture that shortens the staff's lives and maintains an alarmingly high failure rate. Reforming the corrections system is synonymous with social reform. By aiding those incarcerated, we inherently tackle issues of homelessness, mental health, victim support, social inequality, and the substantial financial burden to our society. Fortunately, we have the vision and operational experience to actualize a cultural revolution within corrections. As disruptors, we need your support to build our blueprint and establish our base.

Your donation isn't just a contribution; it's fuel for a movement. A movement aimed at transforming the lives of both staff and incarcerated individuals by empowering them with opportunities for growth and reintegration. A movement daring to defy the norm and committed to bringing about true, sustainable reform to our corrections system. Our nonprofit prisons and jails operate under an outcome-based model, which means that we are accountable for our capacity to shape the corrections culture and facilitate reform while creating opportunities for our staff and individuals involved in the justice system. We aim to demonstrate a better way forward, serving as a blueprint for facilities nationwide.

Please join us in this transformative journey. Donate now and share this campaign with your friends, families, and networks - every bit of support counts. We will provide updates on our progress for the donors to see where their money is being socially invested.

Together, we can introduce humanity into corrections, one step at a time. For more information, please visit us at www.spcor.org.

In solidarity!
