We are a family of five, including three boys, who want to give some much needed help to the people of the Asheville, North Carolina after their devastation from the hurricane. We don't hear about it in the news anymore, so we figure it's over, but the reality is that there is still much disaster, and so much work to do. FEMA has apparently left the area, and the hotel vouchers they gave are now expiring. So many people have nowhere to go after their homes have been destroyed.
Our family would like to spend a week in the Asheville area, ideally in April, volunteering with Hope International. This organization has been working full-time on the ground since two days after the hurricane went through, helping people clean up and repair what can be repaired. We live in Michigan, so Hope International would provide us with a free place to stay, and we are asking for help with funding simply for travel costs (fuel) and a hotel and food along the way.
By sending our family, you will be doing your part to help the people of Asheville, as well as providing us, especially our sons, with an impactful experience in serving others. We believe that every person is a child of God, and we hope to share the love of Jesus as we do what we can to serve. Thank you in advance for being part of this mission.
