I have been going to Filipina, Panama with FSU Cares for 16 years. We take 8-12 medical students and teach them about medical care for underserved people living in small villages in the mountains. During this time we have come to love the people, and they have come to value our visits. Over time we have seen girls mature into young mothers, gotten to know the incredible community of hard-working people, and even helped to fund one young woman attend medical school in Panama, the first person from any of the 4 - 6 villages we hold clinics in become a doctor. Your donations will go to helping to repair the water system in Filipina. With the pandemic, many of the men were not able to find work in nearby towns and the economy of the village has suffered greatly. Many of the FSU medical students say that this medical service project changes their life.
