Frontline Chicks: Sustainability for Artsakh

Donation protected
Dear friends

As part of our mission to strengthen Artsakh, particularly the communities that live near the newly established frontline with Azerbaijan, we have decided to distribute more chicks to the resilient Armenian families who have chosen not to evacuate their homes.

For these villages, the enemy is within a few hundred meters from their homes, resulting in the loss of lands that would be used for farming or animal grazing. Cows, sheep, or horses that stray too close to the frontline while grazing freely are often captured by Azeri soldiers, making it difficult for families to make a living.

Keeping chickens is thus a more secure option for these communities to secure their nutrition and generate an income. To date, we have distributed 16,250 chicks and 715 ducks to families to 18 frontline villages.

With your help, we plan on procuring more chicks for families living in the border regions of Martuni and Askeran.

We only distribute 40-day old, fully vaccinated chicks along with 30kg bags of chicken feed in order to ensure a high survival rate and lessen the burden on the families receiving them.

Each chicken will lay around 200-250 eggs per year, ensuring the receiving families a healthy provision of nutrition and the opportunity to generate some income.
