Essential front line Mental Health Staff COVID childcare fund.
I am stepping out of my element to lean on the community for support.
I am a single biracial mother of 2 young boys living in the bay area with the title of a front line health care worker. As an essential Mental Health Case Manager, I’m working with all walks of life with a focus on their recovery while decreasing hospitalization and recidivism. I feel extremely grateful to be able to support one of our most vulnerable populations by helping them cope with their Mental Health needs during these trying times.
Like all of us, the COVID-19 global pandemic and extraordinary cultural shift of the Black Lives Matter movement has profoundly impacted my professional and personal life.
While simultaneously being aware of what’s going on in our nation and working to fulfill my duties being the sole provider of my family, I have lost affordable child care for my two sons (infant and kinder). I’m in need of safe and stable quality care for my children. The steep cost of childcare in one of the highest costs of living in the country is a financial hardship that adds further uncertainty to these already tragic circumstances. As a result, facing the daily decision of whether I can show up to my work commitments has caused increased stress both financial and emotional.
My hope/dream is to meet the mental health challenge facing the community and navigate the societal shift that is going on in the world while instilling positive work ethic onto my children and ensuring their safety.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to child care. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Thanks and please continue to share!
