ONE WOMAN'S MISSION TO FIGHT GUN & KNIFE CRIME BY TURNING TRAUMA TO EXCELLENCE 

Chinyere Mckenizes launches a challenge to change her community single-handedly.

Greeting, Family, Friends, Supporters, kindred souls and loved ones!

This is my passionate appeal and a plea for your support. 

After 17years, I returned to my childhood home in Moss-side, Manchester, only to find a neighbourhood in need of great healing. From the trauma and heartache caused by the rising knife crime issues which have echoed throughout England and other communities like Moss Side. 

The Home Office stated that there were 43,516 knife crime offences in the 12 months ending March 2019, which is an 80% increase from March 2014, when there were 23,945 offences. These deaths ultimately impact families, mothers, fathers, friends and communities, on the whole, leaving behind deep trauma and a cry for healing. Ask me how I know, because my first boyfriend was shot and murdered.

You see, I've lived in poshville for many years, even had a successful music career. But after a hard divorce, which left me depleted and lost, coming back to the humble beginnings of my childhood home in Moss Side, was my saving grace.


BUT when I arrived, a young boy was stabbed and killed not too far from where my children and I were staying. This tragedy has become somewhat of a common thread, where similar stories have hit the headlines in other deprived neighbourhoods across England. 

As a mother, I can not come back to a community knowing that a young boy was stab and killed and not be propelled to do something about it. We have one of the most gifted generations of young people of our time. So I feel the responsibility to make a change and to help the local community of Moss Side and other like areas in the UK who have experienced years of neglect and trauma. 

In my mission to turn trauma into excellence, I have started a Social Enterprise called Muma Knows best. And a docu-series you can follow on youtube  http://bit.ly/mkbpromo-epsiode1  documenting my story and the story of other mothers who have lost sons, daughters or a partner.

I am also a Radio Host, on Legacy 90.1FM and use this platform to create community change and empowerment.

But now, in my quest for real impact. I want to create a community programme called "Trauma To Excellence ", which aims to empower marginalised, disadvantaged women and those who have experienced trauma in the community. By giving them a voice to be heard that propel them to excellence, in society, business, and family life and community development.

The program will also challenge anti-social behaviour, Gun and knife crime, gang warfare by creating opportunities, workshops and providing support to ex-offenders, effected families and single-parent mothers.

We aim to do this by providing Trauma To Excellence workshops,

That will consist of:

# Cognitive behaviour therapy sessions - to help women manage trauma, anxiety, depression, and any other mental and physical health problems they may face.


# Business and financial freedom workshops to empower women to become more financial illiterate, manage money, create wealth and reduce poverty

# Personal Development and Coaching sessions

# Live Educational events that can inspire and make change

# We shall use the Youtube platform also to create a monthly episode of our journey and document it so the whole world can see our progress.

As we face Brexit and the leaders of our country are unsure of its direction. We can not put our faith in their hands to solve our community issues, as I'm sure its the last thing on their agenda right now.
