From the Mecca to the Motherland: Service Trip to Ghana

I believe God opens doors with purpose—and this is one I don’t take lightly. From The Mecca to the Motherland—this journey is about legacy, learning, and impact.

My name is Sydnie Collins, and I am a student at Howard University studying Strategic Communication with a minor in International Affairs. I am deeply honored to share that I’ve been invited to take part in a life-changing opportunity with Seeds of Fortune Inc., a nonprofit organization, through their Spring Service Trip to Ghana as a Seed University member.

This experience is far more than a trip—it is an immersive global learning journey centered on workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and economic mobility. During the program, I will engage with local universities, entrepreneurs, and community organizations through hands-on service projects, innovation workshops, and cultural exchange. I will be challenged to think beyond borders and to apply real-world problem-solving in a global context. The program blends global leadership development with college-to-career exposure, allowing me to deepen my understanding through direct interaction with leaders building solutions in their own communities.

As a student passionate about communication, storytelling, and global engagement, this opportunity aligns deeply with both my academic studies and my personal mission. It will allow me to see how leadership, entrepreneurship, and access intersect across cultures—and how those lessons can be brought back to my campus and community to create meaningful change.

This experience will take place during Ghana’s Independence Day celebration, making it especially powerful to witness and learn from a nation’s history, resilience, and progress at such a significant moment. I know this journey will strengthen my academic perspective, professional confidence, and global network, while shaping the kind of leader I am becoming.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and humbly ask for your support as I work to make this experience possible. Every contribution helps me step closer to representing our community abroad and returning with knowledge, perspective, and purpose that will extend far beyond this trip.

To make this opportunity possible, I am raising $3,200 to support program costs and travel expenses. Every contribution will help me make the experience possible.

How Funds Will Be Used
  • Round-trip airfare to Ghana
  • Program & participation fees
  • Housing and meals
  • Local transportation

  • Cultural and educational experiences

If you are unable to give, I would deeply appreciate it if you could share this fundraiser and keep me in your prayers as I step into this global journey.

Thank you for believing in me, investing in my future, and supporting the power of global education and service. ✨

With gratitude,
Sydnie Collins
