Help Our Birth Trauma Group Become a Nonprofit

Donation protected
Hi, I’m Megan — the founder of After the Birthquake. I’m a mom, a trauma survivor, and someone who deeply believes in the power of community healing.

After the Birthquake is a peer-led support group for mothers who have experienced traumatic births, complicated deliveries, or pregnancy and infant loss.

This group was born from my own experience with birth trauma — and the deep need for a safe space where moms could speak honestly, feel less alone, and begin to make sense of what happened to them. We gather monthly to talk, reflect, create, and connect. Some nights are heavy. Others are full of laughter. Every time, there’s room for realness.

As the group continues to grow, I’m taking steps to officially register After the Birthquake as a nonprofit. This will allow us to:
• Apply for grants and larger funding opportunities
• Partner with hospitals, doulas, and local organizations
• Offer free trauma-informed peer support to more women
• Expand to include groups specific to perinatal loss

Funds raised will go toward:
• Nonprofit registration fees
• Trauma-informed training for myself and future peer leaders
• Supplies for group nights (crafts, food, materials)
• Print materials and outreach efforts
• Part of the funds may go toward basic legal guidance to ensure the nonprofit is set up responsibly and ethically, especially given the sensitive nature of birth trauma and loss.

If you’re able to give — thank you. If not, sharing this helps too. Every bit brings us closer to a stronger, safer space for women navigating life after the unthinkable.

With love,
Megan

Note: This fundraiser is to support the launch of a nonprofit group. Funds will be tracked separately and used only for group-related expenses such as training, nonprofit registration, and materials. This is not personal income.
