From Surviving to Thriving: Support Sandy’s Journey

Sandy is a 17-year-old girl, and the girlfriend of my youngest nephew, who has faced more hardship in her young life than most of us can imagine. Born into a family struggling with deep-rooted addiction, she’s spent much of her childhood without the stability, love, or support every child deserves. Often left to fend for herself, Sandy has experienced homelessness, neglect, and the pain of being passed from one relative to another—never truly wanted, never truly safe.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, Sandy has shown remarkable strength and resilience. She’s a quiet, kind-hearted young woman who is doing everything she can to break the cycle she was born into. She’s currently in high school and holds a part-time job at the local McDonald’s, working hard to build a better future for herself—one step at a time.

Recently, Sandy found a glimmer of hope when she reconnected with her grandmother, who has offered her a more stable living environment. Determined to become independent, Sandy entered into an agreement with a relative to purchase a used truck. She made every payment faithfully, contributing over $2,000 of her hard-earned money. But without warning, the relative took the truck back and refused to return a single dollar. Now, Sandy is left without transportation, making it even harder for her to get to work and stay on the path she’s fought so hard to stay on.
Our hearts break for Sandy. She’s a good kid who has been let down time and time again by the people who were supposed to protect her. But we believe in her, and we want to help her get the fresh start she deserves.

We’re raising funds to help recoup the money that was stolen from Sandy and put it toward the purchase of a reliable used car and, if possible, set aside a small amount to help with a deposit on an apartment after she turns 18. Every dollar will go directly toward helping her gain the independence and stability she’s never had.

If you’re able to contribute, no matter how small, you’ll be making a real difference in the life of a young woman who’s determined to rise above her circumstances.

Thank you for your kindness and support.
