Hearts behind bars, ending cycles of trauma

I have recently been given a remarkable opportunity to make a difference in the lives of approximately 100,000 incarcerated individuals in Colombia. With access to over 100 prisons, including juvenile facilities, I will deliver a powerful workshop focused on healing trauma, restoring inner connection, and ending trauma cycles.

It is at this crucial time of global transformation I feel called to bring my life force energy into this work. However, this work will be done on a volunteer basis and there are no funding sources available to cover my expenses for this unique opportunity.

To fully dedicate myself to this transformative project in 2024, I am humbly asking for your support and reaching out to my community for the first time. I realize that true healing requires collective effort and unity, and I invite you to become allies on this journey to transmute heavy energies in places like prisons into a resurgence of love.

Breaking the Cycle

I believe that much of the trauma and violence we see in society today is the result of perpetuating trauma cycles that can and need to be broken in order to create a safer world. In my observation, prisons confine individuals who are among the most severely traumatized, to establish societal safety. However, most countries have high recidivism rates due to a lack of support in exploring the root causes of individuals' decisions to commit crimes. Justice systems primarily focus on the actions of individuals without delving into the reasons behind their unacceptable behavior. I have noticed that once the root of someone's trauma is revealed, an opportunity for healing arises, potentially leading to lasting positive change.

After years of helping others transform their traumas, I have come to the realization that we are all in search of the same feelings, with the root of these feelings often linked to the desire for authentic connection. I believe that practicing compassion and love towards oneself and others is the all-healing medicine. In today's society, there are many spaces, especially prisons, where people could benefit from support, and given my history and experience, bringing this work to prisons makes sense

My History With Healing, Coaching and Community Work

In 1993, at age 16, I joined the Dutch Police Academy and became the youngest officer serving in the Dutch police force. During my 8 years of service, I witnessed many individuals in extremely heightened emotional states, which provided me with a deeper understanding of our human condition, emotions, and actions, specifically related to trauma. My police career ended abruptly due to a traumatic experience that shifted my perspective on life. Since then, I have been on a lifelong journey exploring different ways of being in service to support my own healing and that of others, regardless of race, social status, or cultural background. This journey has allowed me to share meaningful moments with humans from all walks of life, in far corners of the world.

For the past 15 years, I have dedicated myself to guiding others towards empowerment and healing through workshops, motivational speaking, and personal coaching. Working with diverse individuals from all walks of life, including businesses and governments, I have witnessed the profound impact of this work.

I have also previously facilitated workshops in prisons and jails in various countries, including the US, with a focus on healing trauma, fostering forgiveness, and ending cycles of violence, oppression, extraction, divisiveness, and abuse. By centering ourselves around this vital work, we can create a profound impact and a ripple effect in our society.

My funding goal is based on the bare-bones budget I need to conduct this work for an entire year in 2024. Any additional funds will go towards expanding this work into other prisons and spaces where individuals are in need of motivation, healing, and support.

This is my humble offering, my drop of water in the vast ocean of life. I sincerely ask for your support in making this vision a reality.
