From Me, Para Ti - Helping Families in Lima, Peru
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Jhair Alejandro Colan, an incoming medical student at the University of Pittsburgh, and I am inviting you to participate in the project "From Me, Para Ti".
From Me, Para Ti is a service project to help families of some of the most impoverished communities in Lima, Peru this Christmas season. We want to spread the holiday spirit by gifting as many toys as possible to the children of these families.
I was born in Lima and came to the United States at a young age. Life is hard for families in Peru, and with the COVID-19 pandemic, the living conditions have worsened for those living in non-suburban areas of the capital.
For our first year, we are going to Jicamarca and Pachacutec, two of Lima's most underserved and impoverished areas. We want to give a bit of joy to the families in these communities and hopefully give them memories that they won't forget anytime soon. Although this is our first year, we want to make as significant an impact as possible.
The toys we will be buying will be from local vendors in Lima. There are thousands of Limeños that are street vendors and rely on the holiday season for the majority of their annual income. We want to help them too. With a donation, you will help not only one family but TWO!
We aim to hit a goal of $2,500 or approximately 10,000 Peruvian Soles. With this money, we will have enough resources to help both communities fully.
We hope you join us on this journey! I will be traveling to Lima on December 11th and will be going to Jicamarca and Pachacutec on December 19th and 20th. I will be filming on these two days to share the impact every donor made.
Thank you so so much for helping. I look forward to seeing the children and their families smiling this Christmas.
