From Loss to Legal Battle: Help a Father Defend His Family

On April 12th, our family received a call that shattered our world. The mother of my 9-year-old nephew Cody, was found deceased from an overdose and abandoned outdoors by someone callous, who made no effort to help her. The pain of losing her this way is something we are still trying to comprehend. But in the midst of this devastation, my brother Peter did what he’s always done, he showed up with his whole heart.

He packed his bags and drove through the night to be by Cody’s side, not only to comfort him but to support her family in their time of grief. If you know Peter, you know that fatherhood changed his life. He worked so hard to rebuild himself, all for the sake of Cody and Kayleigh. Though life circumstances led him to live in another state, it never changed how committed he is as a father.

After this tragedy, Peter didn’t hesitate. He knew he had to become Cody’s anchor. However, instead of being supported as the only living parent, Peter is now facing a heartbreaking custody battle. While everyone is grieving, he’s been met with resistance from Cody’s maternal grandparents, despite being a loving, capable, and devoted father.

This isn’t just a legal battle. It’s a fight to keep a child with the parent who has always put him first. We are asking for help covering the legal fees so Peter can give Cody the stable, loving life he deserves. Every donation brings us one step closer to keeping a father and son together.
