Hello friends and family,
Many of you know me as a mother, grandmother, friend, coworker, and someone who has spent many years helping others through my work and service in our community. What many of you may not know is that God has been working in my life in a powerful way over the last five years, preparing me for a journey I never could have imagined.
On July 9, 2021, my life was transformed through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since then, I have experienced tremendous spiritual growth through my church family at OSC Midtown, serving on teams, leading small groups, and helping others take their next steps in their own walk with Christ. Looking back, I can clearly see how God was preparing me for something much bigger than myself.
For many years, I have dreamed of serving with Mercy Ships, an international Christian organization that provides free, life-changing surgeries and medical care to people in some of the world's most underserved nations. Mercy Ships operates hospital ships staffed by volunteers from around the world who serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.
After a long season of prayer, waiting, and trusting God's timing, I have been accepted to serve as a People & Culture Facilitator (Human Resources) aboard the Global Mercy, the world's largest civilian hospital ship. Beginning in June 2026, I will serve for two years, helping support the volunteers and crew members who make this life-changing mission possible.
This calling has required a tremendous step of faith. I am leaving behind my career, downsizing my life, selling or giving away many of my possessions, and stepping into the unknown with complete trust in God's provision. While I may not be providing medical care directly, I will be helping support the hundreds of volunteers who dedicate their lives and talents to bringing hope, healing, and the love of Christ to those in need.
The journey will begin with training and onboarding in Texas, followed by travel to Spain, where I will join the Global Mercy before serving in Africa. Along the way, there are significant expenses related to travel, medical requirements, supplies, and personal support.
I am asking for your partnership in this mission. First and foremost, I would be grateful for your prayers—for safety, health, wisdom, and that God would use me to impact lives for His glory. If you feel led to support me financially, any contribution, no matter the amount, will help make this journey possible.
I truly believe that this opportunity is not just my mission—it is an opportunity for all of us to be part of what God is doing through Mercy Ships. Every prayer, every word of encouragement, and every donation becomes part of the story of lives being changed through the love of Christ.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering how you might partner with me on this incredible journey.
With gratitude and faith,
Michelle Phelps
